Former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa made his first public appearance since his release, joining Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at a service of songs held in honour of Mrs. Victoria Ossai Obielum, mother of prominent politician Godwill Obielum.

Okowa was arrested on November 4, 2024, over an alleged ₦1.3 trillion fraud but was released after four days, with his passport seized as part of his bail conditions.

The service, held on Wednesday at Obielum’s residence in Asaba, drew prominent attendees, including Delta State PDP Chairman Solomon Arenyenka, members of the party’s state executive committee, and various political figures, alongside serving and retired security officers.

Pastor Ifeanyi Ogude of Heaven Bound Christian International Church Ministry, delivering the sermon, urged attendees to live a life of purpose.

“Nobody knows when death will come,” he said, “and as such, people should be prepared by living a good life and leaving worthy legacies behind, as they will be remembered for what they did.”

Mrs. Obielum, who passed away at 87 on June 20, 2024, will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 16, in Ushie, Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

The service of songs highlighted her life and legacy, bringing together a wide array of political and community figures to pay their respects.
