An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took his own life on Monday at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Guardian source described the deceased, a member of Course 5, as diligent, efficient and unassuming.
The source added that the commission is exploring possible factors, including mental health and family challenges, that may have contributed to the operative’s depression and tragic decision.
When contacted on the incident, the EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale, said that an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the suicide.
The EFCC has yet to release the operative’s name.
The incident has reportedly sent shockwaves through the agency.
The Commission said that details of the incident would be provided as “more pieces of information become available.
