Organisers have confirmed that eight teams will battle for honours at the 22nd edition of the highly anticipated 2024 Bankers’ Games scheduled to be held on October 26 at the University of Lagos Sports Complex.
This was confirmed at the draws held at the Best Western Hotel in Victoria Island on Friday.
During the draws conducted by stakeholders of the games, it was announced that eight banks would participate in eight sports including chess, virtual games, football, table tennis, volleyball, scrabble and athletics.
Fela Bank-Olemoh, co-founder of Media Vision Limited, emphasised the Games’ role in uniting Nigerian bankers.
“ Everybody is saying Nigeria is tough and this is a time for people to relax, the Bankers’ Games is a time to have fun, and relax, and that is why for the past twenty-two years, everybody has been part of it.”
In his remarks, Oladimeji Ojo, representing First Bank and the winner of the male football event, described the draws as favourable for all teams.
“ Bankers’ Games is about connecting bankers and creating a synergy amongst bankers, it’s also an avenue to keep fit and bonding. The draws are interesting and favourable to all teams and we look forward to exciting games.”
Awards were also presented during the draws.
FCMB received the NBG 2023 Fair Play Award, Wema Bank was recognised for having the Most Outstanding Fanbase, Access Bank won the Best Kit Award, and both First Bank and Sterling Bank were acknowledged for their most appearances at the Nigeria Bankers’ Games.
