Ekiti Council Sets Up Security Outfit

Moba local government area of Ekiti State has set up a local security outfit called Moba Aboba Security Enforcement (MASE) to tackle security challenges in the area.

The chairman of the council, Hon Bamidele Fadugba disclosed this saying that it was part of efforts to ensure the safety and security of the residents of the local government.

He also said that the council under his leadership has initiated programmes to better the lots of the people and give hope to the youths and the less privileged of the area.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Comrade Kayode Babatuyi-led  Ekiti State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ado Ekiti, Hon Fadugba said the MASE operatives would be deployed to all towns and villages of the council to provide security.

He said, “We are making efforts to make our environment safe for all to live in.

I had met with the special adviser on security to the governor to unveil our plans on the security of the council to him.

“In my local government, we have five wards; we want to have at least five security operatives in each of the wards, making it 25.

“We are trying to have our own local security outfits which we have named ‘Moba Aboba Security Enforcement (MASE).’ It means don’t go there or do it and if you do it, you will have to face the consequences. MASE comprises local hunters and vigilantes in our communities.

“Those to be engaged for the local security outfit are expected to begin their training by next week. At the end of the training, they will be equipped with all they need to work with, including a unique uniform for clear identification.”
