Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has urged the Council on Ease of Doing Business to elevate the status of the state on ease of doing business in line with the administration’s agenda for the state.
Otti stated this while inaugurating the council in Umuahia, the state capital, saying the primary assignment of the council is to create a seamless business friendly environment in the state.
“Today marks a very important landmark in repositioning the state as we inaugurate the very important council that would be looking after the ease of doing business in the state,” he said.
“The target has also been set. I’m glad that we have made some progress from 33/36 to 21/36 today in one year and two months. But the journey to move us to number one has started and that is the target.
He said the state is founded on business and that about 80 percent of the residents are involved in one business or other hence the need to make the state a business friendly environment.
Responding on behalf of others, the chairman of the council, Ikechukwu Emetu thanked the governor for the opportunity given them to serve, assuring that they will put in their best.
“We thank you very much for the opportunity. We are promising everyone here today that we will make sure that the state becomes the choice destination for investors in the country,” he added.
