A United States-based Nigerian police officer, Monday Alade, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to harness technology in addressing security challenges.
The police officer made this known to Saturday PUNCH while speaking on the expectations of Nigerians in diaspora from the government in 2025.
Alade said that while Nigeria’s security challenges are marked by violent crimes, terrorism, and banditry, the Nigerian police can address them with the use of technology.
He said, “Technology is a game-changer in modern security. Aerial surveillance, data-driven policing, and community intelligence will bolster law enforcement. Enhanced border security is equally critical to curbing cross-border crime and infiltration.”
The officer advised that establishing state police systems will enhance tailored responses while maintaining national unity.
“Finally, addressing root causes like poverty and unemployment is indispensable. Job creation, youth empowerment, and education must complement security measures to weaken the socioeconomic drivers of crime,” he added.
