#EndBadGovernance: Criminals Have Been Given Opportunity – Keyamo

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has condemned the ongoing hunger protest across the country, stating that criminals have been given opportunity to loot.

Festus Keyamo added that robbers who attack at night have been licensed to commit crimes in broad daylight under the guise of legitimate protest.

Keyamo said the organizers of the hunger protest tagged ‘EndbadgovernanceinNigeria’ failed to realize that calling for protest requires capacity to determine its trajectory.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) said this on Thursday, on his X handle, in reaction to looting of Nigeria Communications Commission’s Industrial Park, in Kano, by hoodlums who infiltrated peaceful protesters.

He argued that while protest is a legitimate right, the capacity to manage the protesters must be put into consideration before calling for it.

What has simply happened is that those who were already inclined to robbery or are already armed robbers at night have been given the license and opportunity to commit their crime in broad daylight under the guise of a ‘legitimate’ protest.

“Hence the caution that, though peaceful protests are legitimate, you don’t call for a protest when you don’t have the capacity to determine its trajectory,” Keyamo wrote.

Naija News reported that killing and destruction of property were recorded in some Northern states, including Kano, Kaduna, Borno and Niger State.
