#EndBadGovernance: DSS Vows To Expose Sponsors Of Protesters Waving Foreign Flags

The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced plans to reveal the identities of those funding the foreign flag-waving protesters accused of promoting insurrection in Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests against hardship and hunger took a twist over the weekend, with protesters in some Northern states holding up the Russian flag as they chanted “Tinubu must go”.

At a joint news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, stated that the names of the sponsors will soon be disclosed. He urged Nigerians to remain patient with the Federal Government as investigations continue.

The DSS confirmed that it has already arrested some sponsors of individuals who were seen waving foreign flags during recent nationwide protests against hunger and hardship in northern states. This action, which has sparked nationwide concern, is under active investigation.

Afunanya assured the public that the DSS is committed to uncovering the full extent of the situation.

Now, people have started manifesting attitudes that are inimical to the security, welfare, and orderliness of society. So, we won’t cross our hands. We have arrested the sponsors of those who did the flag. It is not just that children are flying flags. No. There is more to that,” Afunanya said during the briefing.

He emphasized that certain details of the ongoing operations remain confidential due to their sensitive nature and to prevent compromising active investigations.

There are some aspects of our operations that we may not sit before the camera and begin to reel out either because of their sensitivity or we are not supposed to say them now or because there are ongoing investigations and we may not say things to jeopardise those investigations.

“But I can assure you, be patient with us. You will hear from us sooner than later. We are not sleeping over the issues. We would take it to the end and you would be surprised if at all, we declare the information to the public,” he added.
