Organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protests have presented a 17-point ultimatum to the Federal Government as they gear up for a nationwide demonstration on October 1, 2024.

The demands include the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters, the unfreezing of their assets, and compensation for the distress they experienced during peaceful demonstrations.

The protesters, led by prominent activist, Omoyele Sowore, also demand the removal and prosecution of government officials accused of suppressing protests and violating human rights.

A key item on the list is the call for the scrapping of the 1999 Constitution, which they want replaced with a new constitution created by the people.

Additionally, the movement is pushing for the restructuring of Nigeria to better reflect its diversity and the aspirations of its various regions.

Other demands include comprehensive police reforms, accountability for abuses of power, and the addressing of issues related to governance, corruption, and economic hardship that have sparked widespread discontent across the nation.

Other demands include, “Pay Nigerian workers a minimum wage of no less than ₦250,000 monthly.

“Invest heavily in education and provide Nigerian students with grants, not loans. Aggressively pursue free and compulsory education for children across Nigeria.

“Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the South-East. All #ENDSARS and political detainees must also be released and compensated, among other demands.”
