Normalcy has returned to Rivers State, with daily activities resuming after the temporary closure of Port Harcourt and the surrounding areas during Thursday’s #EndBadGovernance protest.

The calm nature of Thursday’s protests led to a swift return to normalcy by Friday morning, with motorists and traders resuming their activities that had been paused due to the demonstrations.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara praised the protesters for their calm demeanor despite the economic hardships that motivated the protests.

Addressing those who marched to the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed gratitude for their orderly conduct and their earnest call for change.

He reassured the youth of his administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s economy and improving the welfare of its citizens.

Acknowledging the financial struggles many residents face, he emphasized the importance of addressing the protesters’ concerns swiftly.

He said, “The peaceful nature of your protests shows a genuine desire for positive change.

“It underscores the necessity for us, as a government, to take immediate and meaningful action.”

Governor Fubara encouraged protesters to remain patient and trust in the government’s efforts to implement economic reforms.

However, he also urged vigilance against individuals who might exploit the protests to incite violence, particularly in the current sensitive political climate.
