As the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests commence, the federal secretariat in Abuja has been closed to the public.
According to the Punch, the gates of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service were locked, with security personnel stationed at the entrance.
Protesters have adhered to the court’s directive to limit demonstrations to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The usually busy Eagles Square was found deserted as demonstrators at the stadium chose not to enter the main area for their protest.
Meanwhile, Deji Adeyanju, a legal representative for the protesters, has urged Bennett Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, to avoid any actions that might lead to violence during the protests.
This advice follows the commissioner’s insistence that protesters should move inside the stadium.
Speaking to journalists, Adeyanju emphasized the importance of allowing the protests to proceed peacefully.
“We have been intervening to ensure the protest remains peaceful but if they don’t appreciate our interventions and want the protest to degenerate, so be it.
“This is not the first time the police will attack us. We are used to it,” he said
