One of the organisers of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, the ‘Take It Back Movement,’ has condemned attacks by some men of the Nigeria Police Force on protesters gathered at the Berger Roundabout in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Early on Friday, police officers stationed at the roundabout teargassed protesters and journalists alike who were gathered at the venue for the second day of the protests.

In a short statement, the Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, said the actions of the policemen were a reminder that the administration’s claim of upholding the tenets of democracy was “nothing but a facade.”

He stated that the disregard for human rights would only further provoke impoverished and hungry Nigerians, whom he said, wouldn’t be silenced.

“Today’s brutal harassment of peaceful protesters at Berger Junction by the police is a stark reminder that the Tinubu administration’s claims of democracy are nothing but a facade.

“Despite donning the garb of freedom, its actions reek of tyranny. This blatant disregard for human rights will only serve to further provoke the already impoverished and hungry Nigerians, who will not be silenced,” Adenola stated.
