Chairman of Enyimba Football Club and ex-international Nwankwo Kanu has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve great things in the upcoming season.
The nine-time Nigerian champions are gearing up for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League and the CAF Confederation Cup, after finishing third in the 2023/24 sesson.
Last season, the two-time continental champions failed to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League while they also slipped in the NPFL title race.
Ahead of the new season, the ex-international has vowed to restore the team’s glory days.
“As a former player, I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level,” Kanu said.
“I believe in this team and the talent we have. We’ve been working hard to strengthen our squad and improve our strategies, and I’m excited to see the results.
“We have improved all round and we are committed to doing better,” Kanu added.
“Our coaching staff, players, and entire management team are working together to achieve excellence. I’m confident that our fans will be proud of our accomplishments.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that Enyimba FC returns to its winning ways and cements its position as one of the top teams in the country.
“I’m excited for the future and I believe that together, we can achieve great things.”
With two CAF Champions League titles and nine league titles, Enyimba are the most successful team in Nigeria.
Following the exit of Finidi George as the team’s coach, Enyimba has appointed his assistant, Yemi Olanrewaju, as the team’s coach ahead of next season.
