Enzo Maresca Explains Why Chelsea Lost To Swiss Club Servette

Coach Enzo Maresca of Chelsea has argued that his team lost to lowly rated Swiss side, Servette in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off because they failed to take their chances.

After Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Servette in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, their 2-1 defeat in the second leg in Switzerland put them under pressure.

Despite taking the lead with a goal from Christopher Nkunku, they conceded two goals, leading to a 3-2 aggregate result in their favour.

Even though they managed to scale through to the group stage of the Conference League, both their fans and opposition fans bashed them heavily for losing to a team they were expected to beat home and away.

Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, expressed his concerns about the match, stating that the early comfortable lead changed after conceding a goal.

Maresca acknowledged the significance of the game for Servette and admitted that it was normal for his team to feel some pressure during the match.

The coach said, “I think the first half an hour was comfortable and we had three or four chances to make it 2-0.

“Then we concede the goal and it’s normal to suffer a little bit. I was very worried about this game.

“For them, it’s probably their biggest game of the season.”
