European stock markets fall at open

Europe’s main stock markets slipped at the open on Tuesday as investors track new political landscapes in France and Britain and look ahead to testimony from Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell.

London’s FTSE 100 index fell 0.2 per cent to 8,177.71 points.

In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 index dropped 0.4 per cent to 7,594.16 points and Frankfurt’s DAX shed 0.5 per cent to 18,379.03.
