Everton manager Sean Dyche has expressed his regrets regarding the departure of Alex Iwobi from Goodison Park, emphasizing that he never envisioned the midfielder leaving the club.

Alex Iwobi joined Everton in 2019 from Arsenal for a transfer fee in the region of £28 million, embarking on a journey that saw him spend four years at the club.

Initially, Iwobi faced challenges in making a significant imprint within the team, but over time, he evolved into a key player and a fan favourite among Everton supporters. His versatility and work ethic earned him the respect of both teammates and fans alike.

In his final season with Everton, Iwobi’s contributions were recognized when he was awarded the Players’ Player of the Season, a testament to his dedication and performance on the pitch. However, last summer, he made the move to Fulham, marking a new chapter in his career.

At 5:30 p.m. later today, October 26, Alex Iwobi will return to Merseyside with Fulham, creating a sense of anticipation among fans and players.

Reflecting on Iwobi’s time at Everton, Dyche remarked, “It was a very good deal for the club. I thought he was an excellent servant during my time here, and I truly enjoyed having him around the place.”

He added, “He was a joy to work with and is, in my opinion, a very good player. While I didn’t want to lose him, circumstances at that time necessitated the decision. Ultimately, it was a good fee for a good player.”
