Ex-agitators from the Niger Delta region have expressed their admiration for General Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, on the prestigious award he recently received from the Ijaw People’s Association (IPA) of Great Britain and Ireland at the 76th anniversary and the 2024 Ijaw Day Celebration and Awards Night held in London, United Kingdom.

They also commended the strong partnership between Tompolo’s Tanita Security Outfit and the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) while emphasising the collaboration’s significant contribution towards peace and security in the region.

At a press conference yesterday in Yenagoa, prominent leaders of the ex-agitators acknowledged Tompolo’s enduring efforts toward fostering peace and development in the Niger Delta.

In his remark, the National Chairman of PAP 2nd Phase, Salvation Rufus Ibena, appreciated the continuation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, which has been transformative for many former agitators, contributing significantly to the peace and development across the region.

He commended the synergy between Tantita and the 2nd Phase PAP Generals, adding that it is a “milestone achievement” that will enhance the overall success of the amnesty programme.

While expressing his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for recognising Tompolo’s pivotal role in maintaining peace in the region, Ibena, however, appealed to President Tinubu to increase the Tantita contract to enable Tompolo to employ more workforce, as well as to increase the budget of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

He said, “We are truly excited about this award and the strategic alliance with Tantita Security. High Chief Tompolo has consistently been a driving force for peace and progress in the Niger Delta. This partnership will undoubtedly pave the way for sustained growth and stability in our region.

“The 2nd and 3rd phase generals are proud to be part of this initiative with Tantita Security. Together, we will ensure that the Niger Delta remains secure and poised for economic development”.
