Ex-Governor Ikpeazu Speaks On His PDP Membership, Plan

The former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed his intentions to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite the crisis rocking the party.

Speaking to journalists in Aba, Ikpeazu assured that the crises plaguing the PDP were nearing an end and projected that the party would stabilize well before the next election cycle.

Ikpeazu further remarked on the resilience of the PDP, noting that the conflicts were a natural part of any political party’s lifecycle.

He emphasized that the PDP possesses more robust mechanisms for resolving internal disputes than any other political party in Nigeria.

Naija News understands that Ikpeazu’s stand comes a day after the national reconciliation committee, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, announced significant progress in reconciling the feuding factions within the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

This development comes as the PDP gears up for the 2027 general elections, seeking to consolidate its ranks and strengthen its electoral strategies.

IIkpeazu in address said, “Most of the other political parties, apart from my party, can’t survive what we have survived so far. But we have inbuilt mechanisms to resolve our conflicts because partisan politics is such that there has to be conflicts and I’m sure the resolution of the conflict is in sight and everything will be okay.”

Regarding his future political plans, Ikpeazu said, “My plan is to be a strong party man, remain focused, and look unto God. There’s nothing that has come to me that didn’t come from heaven and heaven is still open.”
