A former member of the House of Representatives from Kwara State, Aliyu Bahago Ahman Patigi, is dead.
The family announced the demise of the late lawmaker and Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Patigi University in Patigi, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, in a statement on Thursday.
“His contributions to education and politics will be remembered. May his family and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time,” the statement added.
The Kwara State Government, in a statement released through Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed the development.
The statement reads, “Governor Abdulrazaq, who has joined the family at the National Hospital where the former congressman died in Abuja, sends his heartfelt condolences to His Royal Highness the Etsu Patigi Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, the people of Patigi Local Government Area, and the Ahman-Patigis on this sad event.
“Governor Abdulrazaq says Hon. Bahago would be remembered for his many investments that uplifted different people, including those he facilitated as a congressman and those he built as a community leader such as the Ahman Patigi University (APU).
“We are sad and devastated at the death of the Galadiman Patigi, but we surrender to the will of Allaah, our maker and nourisher. To that extent, we ask Allaah to forgive Hon. Aliyu Bahago, admit him to al-jannah Firdaus, and give his family the patience to live with this harsh reality.”
