Former Sporting Lagos left-back, Oluwafemi Ladeinde has narrated his bitter-sweet experience in Europe trying to secure a contract, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

In a post on X (Twitter) on Saturday, Ladeinde, who played for Inter Lagos FC after parting ways with Sporting Lagos, explained how fortunes smiled on him at MFK Skalica of Slovakia after facing utter rejection in Czech Republic.

He wrote, “I failed my first tryouts in Czech Republic. But was given a one-week tryout at MFK Skalica in Slovakia. From the first day, everyone fell in love with me because they saw how good I was on the ball. I became a fan favorite in less than a month. I’m blessed.”

In a separate statement, elated Ladeinde narrated how he excelled during a test match, silencing his critics who wrote him off.

“Before the start of this match, the opponent kept on laughing at me because they thought I couldn’t play but my teammates said that they don’t know what they’re in for. I scored a goal in this match and we won 8-2. They were mute at the end of the match and congratulated me,” wrote the player who would have been the second Nigerian at MFK Skalica, the other being Taofiq Jibril, a 26-year-old striker who has just joined them from West Armenia.
