Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has revealed that he is uncertain about raising his future children in Nigeria, citing concerns over national insecurity and the risks tied to his outspoken activism.

Falz made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Dear Ife Series podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro. When asked if he would consider raising his children in Nigeria, the This Is Nigeria star paused before admitting the question struck a personal chord.

“It’s something I cannot outrightly say ‘yes’ to,” he said. “And it’s so sad. But I can’t also outrightly say ‘no’ because I’m pro-Nigerian and I really believe that we can actually get it right.”

Falz attributed his hesitation to the nation’s ongoing security crisis, poor economic outlook, and the personal threats he has faced due to his activism and political commentary.

“Because of what we’re talking about—the insecurity in the country, threats due to my activism, and Nigerians’ docility—it’s difficult to give a definite answer,” he explained.

The award-winning artist, who remains one of the most vocal entertainers in Nigeria’s sociopolitical space, has often used his platform to address issues such as police brutality, corruption, and civic apathy.

Though currently single and without children, Falz’s reflections mirror the dilemma of many young Nigerians who, despite a deep love for their country, question its readiness as a safe space for raising the next generation.
