A woman identified as Arinola has sought financial help for her eight-year-old son, David Mofopeoluwa, who has been suffering from Stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer for the past three years.

According to a video of the mother sent to PUNCH Online on Wednesday, the boy had undergone two surgeries and 27 cycles of chemotherapy.

“I’m here to ask for your help. Please help treat my son for cancer. He’s been on chemotherapy, and he’s done two major surgeries, and recently, he’s been receiving blood transfusions and platelets back-to-back.

“For example, on Tuesday, he received two pints of blood and a few platelets. Yesterday, he also received four platelets, and today, we were told that he’d receive another four platelets, which require a lot of money,” she pleaded amid tears.

The video showed the boy on his sick bed in the Lagos University Teaching Hospital with a pale, swollen face and a bloated stomach.

The distraught mother regretted that all efforts to raise money for a planned transplant for him in India have not yielded the money needed.

She urged the public to offer assistance to help her son recover from the disease.

She added, “Mofopefoluwa is a great kid, a hero, and we do not want to lose him. Now, he needs a transplant in India.

“We believe and do know that he will make it through, but we are drained
Although we have lost everything, we do not want to give up.

“We only have less than £30 in his GoFundMe account, and the only naira we have raised is 100k plus, and since then, we haven’t received any donations to date.

“I just want to urge us to support Mofopefoluwa through this journey.”

According to information obtained from the website of a United States-based academic medical centre — Cleveland Clinic, Neuroblastoma is a rare cancer that develops in nerve tissues, affecting kids under five years of age.

Symptoms include fatigue, decreased appetite, and a lump in the chest, neck, or belly.
