The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, on Wednesday, decorated no fewer than 620 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The inspectors were among the 7,194 promoted by the Police Service Commission on August 2, 2024.
According to a statement on Thursday by the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the decorations were done at the command headquarters.
She said, “Following the promotion of 620 inspectors serving under the FCT Police Command to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP11). The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, decorated them on August 14, 2024, at the command headquarters.”
Adeh said the CP urged the promoted officers to live up to the responsibilities of their new ranks.
She said, “In his address, the CP appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for the meritorious promotion. While extending his hearty congratulations to the newly promoted officers, the CP charged them to sit up and handle professionally the responsibilities and challenges that come with the new ranks they have been elevated to. “
She added that the CP urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.
Adeh said, “He seized the opportunity to also urge the residents of FCT to be vigilant and take advantage of the police emergency lines in reporting suspicious activities”.
