Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through its Women Affairs Secretariat, has called on women in the nation’s capital to key into the competition of the ‘Every Home A Garden’ initiative to grow edible crops towards increasing food production in the territory.

The mandate secretary, FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Dr Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi who made the call during a press briefing in Abuja, said land is no longer a barrier, and women should use soil-less style like sacks and containers to plant vegetables in their compounds.

Benjamins-Laniyi urged women to submit their applications for the Garden competition at Area 10, Social Development Secretariat, Abuja.

She explained that ‘Every-Home-A-Garden’ is a national event and an initiative of the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, targeted at enhancing food security through increased farm produce across the federation under the supervision of governors’ wives.

According to the mandate secretary, the gardens of those that keyed into the competition will be inspected till September 25 to get the overall winners in the territory.

She said beyond the aesthetics and monetary aspect of the competition, the rationale is to ensure that Tinubu administration leaves an uncommon legacy behind, using simple strategies to achieve unimaginable positive results.
