Mourinho back in Premier League?

According to The Guardian, the Fenerbahce boss is eyeing the Newcastle United job if Eddie Howe leaves. He sees the coaching role at St James' Park as his best chance of making a return to England.

The report adds that the two-time Champions League winner has asked intermediaries to update him on developments at Newcastle regarding the coaching role.

The former Real Madrid boss met Newcastle’s chairman, Yasir al-Rumayyan, in March and has kept in touch. Mourinho last won the Premier League in 2015.

Mourinho appears to be unhappy in Turkey following an extraordinary rant against the league and its officiating. He joined the Turkish giants in the summer but has had a few controversial moments.

Howe is not under pressure following his team's victories over Chelsea and Arsenal after a shaky start to the 2024/25 season.
