Enugu Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has dedicated his Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Manager of the Season award to the fans of the club.

Fidelis Ilechukwu made his name in the coaching world when he led MFM FC to gain promotion to the NPFL and kept them in the league for more than a season before he was sacked.

Ilechukwu established himself more in the profession when he led Enugu Rangers to win the NPFL title last season with 70 points in 38 games. He and his players recorded 10 defeats, 7 draws, and 21 wins during the campaign.

The fact that the former Plateau United coach beat clubs like Remo Stars, Enyimba of Aba, and Shooting Stars to win the title, earned him the Best Manager of the Season award. The recognition comes with ₦1 Million prize money.

In his acceptance speech, Fidelis Ilechukwu said the award was a call for him to do more for Enugu Rangers.

“I want to dedicate this award to Dr Daniel Olukoya, Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Lloyd Ekweremadu, General Manager of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku, the management of Rangers, my players, my family and all the supporters club members and fans of Rangers International across the globe and the media,” the coach said.

“Thank you so much for believing in me. Without your support, this award will not come through. It is a call for us to do more at Rangers.”

Note that Fidelis Ilechukwu and his team Enugu Rangers have been paired to play US Zilimadjou of Comoros in the first phase of the 2024-2025 CAF Champions League preliminary round.
