There was a devastating fire at the Eco Fitness Center in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Naija News learnt that at least 50 individuals managed to flee the well-known gym when the inferno started.
The incident reportedly started around 10:00 am, prompting emergency services to be dispatched to control the fire.
As of the moment this report was prepared, the reason behind the fire remains unknown.
While the fire was extinguished, a significant part of the building was destroyed.
Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.
This comes barely 24 hours after a fire outbreak was reported at the private residence of the Minister of State Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud.
Naija News learnt that the fire incident happened on Sunday afternoon at Mahmoud’s house located at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, Asokoro.
Media aide to the Minister, Austine Elemue, who confirmed the development to PM news, said the house was completely razed, and nothing could be salvaged from the ruins.
Elemue said firefighters were slow to respond to the development, and the cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained.
Also, at least twenty-five (25) shops were reportedly destroyed after fire gutted a structure on Saturday morning in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, last weekend.
Naija News learnt that the fire incident happened around the Adeta roundabout at 02:39 hours today.
Hassan Adekunle, the spokesman for the service, stated in a release on Saturday that firefighters, upon their arrival, discovered a block of approximately 25 shops fully engulfed in flames.
“Thanks to the swift action and bravery of the Kwara State fire service officers, only three shops suffered damage, including a soft drinks and alcohol shop.
“Preliminary investigations indicated that the fire was caused by a power surge,” the statement disclosed.
