The Radio Nigeria facility situated on Plot No. 35, Ikoyi Road, Lagos, reportedly went into flames late Wednesday night.

Naija News reports that while the origin of the fire is currently undetermined, the incident raised significant alarm and prompted an immediate intervention from emergency services.

Reports said officials had initiated an investigation into the occurrence.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, noted in a statement on Thursday morning that the agency received an emergency call at approximately 5:30 PM.

Firefighters from the Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Onitolo Fire Stations swiftly responded to combat the flames, which had consumed the studio area of the building.

Efforts to completely extinguish the fire and evaluate the damage are still in progress.

“The public is assured that collaborative efforts with the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders, including the Nigerian Police, have brought the situation under control, confining the fire to the studio section of the U-shaped one-story building where it started. While the cause of the fire is yet unknown and no casualties have been reported, damping down of the fire embers continues,” Adeseye noted.

Barely a month ago, a devastating fire razed three radio stations in Aba, Abia State, reducing electronic broadcasting equipment worth millions to ashes.

Naija News reports that the affected stations—Enyimba 94.3 FM, Rose 101.9 FM, and Legend 98.3 FM—were all located off Margret Avenue, on the PZ axis of the Aba-Owerri Road in Aba North local government area.

Though the stations operate independently, they share the same building, which allowed the fire to spread swiftly among them.

The blaze was eventually contained by the Abia State Fire Service, preventing it from affecting nearby buildings.

According to a staff member, the fire reportedly started in the television section of Enyimba TV and Radio Limited—the parent company for the three stations—before spreading to the other stations.

While no lives were lost, the fire destroyed all broadcasting equipment.

In an official statement, Enyimba TV and Radio Limited said they are investigating the cause of the fire and have temporarily suspended operations at the three stations to assess the damage and implement preventive measures.
