Property and goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire incident that occurred in another market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
DAILY POST gathered on Monday that some shops were affected when an inferno occurred at Gbaremu market in Ibadan on Saturday.
Our correspondent reports that the market is located along the Sango/ Eleyele Road in Ibadan North local government area.
It was learnt that property and goods worth millions of naira were either destroyed or burnt as a result of the inferno.
DAILY POST reports that the latest fire incident at Gbaremu market is coming exactly one week after fire ravaged some shops at Oranyan market in Ibadan.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Electoral Matter, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli in his reaction, expressed deep sympathy with the traders at the market.
Alli in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, described the incident as heartbreaking and a significant loss to the affected traders and the community.
Alli who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, extended sympathy to the traders who lost their goods and properties in the fire.
The lawmaker called on relevant agencies to support the victims.
The statement reads, “My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic fire outbreak. I understand the immense pain and hardship this has caused, and I pray for strength and quick recovery for all the victims.
“Senator Alli called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire to prevent future occurrences.
“He assured the victims of his continued support and urged government agencies to provide necessary assistance to help the affected traders recover from their losses.”
