A global leader in pineapple production, Davidorlah Farms, has offered 50,000 hectares of land to prospective farmers in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the outfit, Amb. Olusegun Alabi, at a press conference held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, on Monday, explained that the initiative will be particularly targeted at youths who have a passion for agriculture and have studied the field of pineapple production.

Calling on well-meaning Nigerians to build a stronger, more prosperous nation by leveraging the immense potential in the agricultural sector, he assured that his outfit would offer beneficiaries, numbering 50,000, comprehensive training and all the necessary resources to succeed as pineapple farmers.

He urged the government to create an enabling environment that fosters business growth and allows the private sector to thrive.

To further address the pressing issue of food security in Nigeria, he said it is essential for the government to engage the right people in the agricultural sector—individuals and organisations with proven track records and a deep understanding of the industry—who can offer informed and strategic advice on how to solve these challenges with urgency.

Alabi listed the empowerment of 10,000 agronomists, 10,000 farm managers, and employment opportunities for rural communities, helping to alleviate poverty and reduce youth unemployment, as other benefits derivable from his intervention programme.

“The value chain in pineapple agriculture is extensive, and this program will also benefit the transporters who will be responsible for moving the produce from farms to various destinations,” he noted.

“Davidolrah will train farmers in good agricultural practices (GAP) to ensure that their produce meets the highest quality standards. By improving cultivation methods, the company will help farmers produce pineapples that meet industrial and international market standards.”

“Davidolrah is committed to investing in infrastructure that will support large-scale pineapple farming. This includes better storage facilities, modern processing plants, and transportation networks to reduce post-harvest losses and improve efficiency in the supply chain.”

“Promote export growth: By focusing on the production of high-quality pineapples, Davidorlah seeks to place Nigeria on the world map as a leading exporter of pineapples. The company will work to create partnerships with international buyers, ensuring that Nigerian pineapples are available in markets around the world.”

“Davidolrah plans to introduce innovative farming techniques and sustainable practices to increase productivity while protecting the environment.”
