The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has expressed commitment to an advocacy towards bestowing a special status on Lagos through the National Assembly.

Senator Tinubu made the pledge in response to a renewed appeal by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, who emphasised the unique position of Lagos as the former Federal Capital of Nigeria.

Addressing the longstanding request, the President’s wife assured the monarch that the matter would receive attention from Lagos representatives in the National Assembly.

The First Lady was at the Iga Idugaran Palace of the monarch in Lagos to pay Oba Akiolu a visit.

She was accompanied on the visit by the wives of some of the Southwest governors, those of National Assembly members, wives of some ministers as well as those of Service.

Senator Tinubu thanked the royal father for his continued support, prayers and admonitions.

“I assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do well for this country. He loves Nigeria, he loves Nigerians and will do the best for them,” she pledged.

The Oba of Lagos also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the government of President Tinubu, noting that he means well for the nation as a grassroots-focused man.

“All that I am saying and appealing is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers,” he said.

The Oba of Lagos also admonished the youth to be closer to God, noting that Nigerian youths are majorly good and hardworking.

“Though some youths are incurably lazy and are always waiting to be spoon-fed, teach them not to always wait for fish but learn how to fish themselves,“ he said.
