In a recent development, approximately 2,000 individuals have been displaced due to flooding that has impacted several communities within the Gada and Dange-Shuni Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto State.

Naija News reports that the events were confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation within the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mustapha Umar.

Umar noted that numerous homes and agricultural lands had been inundated in the affected regions.

He further stated that the flooding has adversely affected approximately 1,700 individuals in Gada LGA, with a significant portion of farmland submerged, resulting in the loss of numerous farm animals and food supplies.

The communities most impacted by the flooding in Gada LGA include Dantudu, Balakozo, Gidan-Tudu, and Tsitse.

However, Umar emphasized that the situation in Dange-Shuni is still being evaluated to determine the extent of damage and the number of residents affected.

In response to the crisis, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, expressed his sympathies with the affected individuals.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Bashar Abubakar, Senator Wamakko offered his prayers to the Almighty Allah for the well-being and recovery of the victims.
