Ford Motor Company South Africa has officially recognised Armormax, a luxury armoured vehicle manufacturer, as a Qualified Vehicle Modifier.

According to timeslive.co.za, this distinction, similar to the ISO 9001 Quality Management certification that Armormax previously achieved, evaluates a manufacturer’s ability to maintain consistent quality in engineering, fabrication, and delivery processes.

Ford SA approached Armormax earlier this year, prompted by requests from their government and fleet sales department, to join the QVM programme. Before this recognition, Armormax had already armoured several units of the new Ford Ranger and Everest models for clients. kaMarketing manager Michael Broom noted that many customers who previously owned vehicles from premium manufacturers have switched to the Ranger and Everest for both business and private use.

In March, Armormax was granted QVM status by Ford SA after delivering their third Everest model, armoured to B4 specification. The company has since produced several Rangers in both B4 and B6 specifications.

Armormax’s approach to armouring vehicles involves using lightweight, high-grade ballistic materials, making their B6 package on the Ranger only slightly heavier than competitors’ B4 offerings. This allows for increased payload capacity without requiring modifications to the vehicle’s suspension or braking systems.

Armormax expressed satisfaction with the QVM programme, highlighting that it enables them to provide armoring solutions without compromising the vehicle’s warranty and service plan. Customers can purchase Armormax packages through dealers or directly from the company. Ford SA plans to promote Armormax to its customers and dealers, aiming to deliver exceptional quality and service.
