A former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof Amos Utuama (SAN), is dead.
Naija News reports that Utuama passed away at 77, but details surrounding his demise are still unknown.
Paying tribute to Utuama, former Governor, James Ibori, expressed deep respect and admiration for the deceased.
He said, “Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, my humble, loyal, and esteemed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
“You were my steadfast legal foundation, executing your duties with unwavering commitment. If it were within my power to halt death, I would have done so for you. Farewell, dear Professor.
“May your pure soul rest in eternal peace,” Ibori wrote, highlighting Utuama’s dedication and professionalism throughout his career.”
Also, the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, in a statement via X, wrote: “I have just received the devastating news of the death of Delta State’s former Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama. Undoubtedly, Delta State has lost one of its strong political figures: a great patriot and an astute academic of worldwide repute. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the good people of Delta State at this critical time. May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as the state’s Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015 under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
He also held the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice roles during Chief James Ibori’s administration.
