Former Real Madrid Coach Urges Atalanta Not To Sell Ademola Lookman

Former Real Madrid manager, Fabio Capello believes that Atalanta could emerge as strong contenders in the Serie A race if they manage to retain the services of Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman.

Atalanta BC who are not known for being major title winners, are currently experiencing one of their most successful periods.

Under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, the team achieved a significant milestone by securing their first European title in May, clinching the Europa League trophy after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the final.

Recall that Ademola Lookman scored a historic hat-trick in the game.

Lookman, who previously played for Leicester City and RB Leipzig, made a substantial contribution to Atalanta’s Serie A campaign last season, tallying 18 goals (11 goals and eight assists) as the team finished fourth, thereby securing a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

The 26-year-old’s impressive performances have drawn interest from several top European clubs, including PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City. Despite this, Atalanta have not yet received any concrete offers for Lookman, indicating that he could play for the club beyond this season.

Capello emphasized the impact of Lookman’s potential retention at the club, stating that it could be pivotal to Atalanta’s success in the league.

“I liked Atalanta’s moves, with the arrival of Bellanova, a great signing. And if Lookman stays, watch out for Gasp (Gasperini),” the Italian tactician said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Calcio Atalanta.
