A philanthropist and founder, Kefiano Global Foundation (KGF), Chief Kefas Ropshik, has renovated and equipped the accident and emergency unit of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
He also promised to pay the bills of the first 36 patients to be admitted and treated in the unit.
Chief Ropshik stated this during the commissioning of the edifice at the JUTH permanent site Lamingo in Jos.
According to him, the experience of watching his mother’s health decline due to inadequate facilities left an indelible mark in his mind.
He said JUTH though staffed by hardworking medical professionals, was severely limited in terms of resources, adding that the casualty and emergency units were overstretched and lacked the essential equipment needed to provide timely and effective care.
He further said the project would serve as a beacon of hope not just for those who require emergency care but for the entire healthcare system, adding that every Nigerian regardless of their social status must have access to the healthcare they deserve.
