‘Four More Bodies Recovered In Niger Mining Site Collapse’

The bodies of four more miners who were trapped in the mining site at Galadima-Kogo community of the Shiroro Local Government Area in Niger State have been successfully retrieved.

The Village Head of Galadima-Kogo, Alhaji Umaru Aliyu, disclosed this to the press in Minna, the state capital, on Thursday.

Naija News understands that the tragic incident resulted in the loss of 14 lives, while eight individuals were rescued, sustaining various injuries, on June 14.

The village head confirmed that the recovery of the remaining four miners took place on Wednesday, and their bodies have been transferred to the mortuary at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna.

“The dead bodies of the remaining four persons that were trapped inside the pit have been recovered, and their bodies have been deposited in the mortuary in Minna.

“They are two Muslims and two Christians; among the Christian victims, one is from Nasarawa state and one from Zumba (Shiroro LG).

“The one from Nasarawa; his family has demanded that his body be taken to Nasarawa for burial, while the remaining Christian and the two Muslims will be buried in Minna on Friday,” Daily Post quoted the village head as saying.

Aliyu disclosed that the bodies were recovered through collaboration between the community and members of staff of African Minerals and Logistics Ltd.
