A couple of Super Eagles of Nigeria players are expected to be sidelined in this November international due to different degrees of injuries.

At the time of writing, four Super Eagles players have been confirmed injured, posing a huge challenge for their respective clubs and the national team. Hence, the injured players will miss Nigeria’s crucial AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda this November.

Below are the four Super Eagles players who are currently injured ahead of the November international break:

1. Semi Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion)

West Brom’s defender, Semi Ajayi, is expected to be sidelined for four months after undergoing surgery for a serious hamstring injury sustained during a recent goalless draw against Cardiff City. The 30-year-old centre-back has made 12 vital appearances this Championship season, but his injury, described by manager Carlos Corberan as a “broken muscle in two parts,” necessitated surgical intervention to mitigate future risks.

2. Terem Moffi (OGC Nice)

OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi is optimistic about returning by February after suffering an ACL rupture in his left knee during pre-season training in Austria. This injury has interrupted the 25-year-old’s outstanding run at the French club, where he achieved an impressive tally of 20 goals and five assists in 52 appearances since his arrival from Lorient in January 2022. Moffi is currently engaged in rehabilitation following surgery, and his gradual recovery is essential for Nice’s attacking capabilities this season.

3. Chidera Ejuke (Sevilla)

Chidera Ejuke, the Sevilla winger, is projected to be out for at least three months due to a high-grade hamstring injury sustained in a match against Barcelona. This injury comes at a challenging time for the skilled dribbler who hasn’t been able to establish himself in the starting lineup of the Super Eagles.

4. Peter Olayinka (Red Star Belgrade)

Peter Olayinka of Red Star Belgrade faces a long recovery following Achilles tendon surgery last month in Finland, which is anticipated to keep him out for the remainder of the season. The 28-year-old forward had been making notable contributions to his club with two goals and two assists in six league matches. His recovery is estimated to take between six and nine months, with a potential return targeted between May and July 2024.
