The French Embassy has partnered with the Nigerian International Film and TV Summit to sponsor a Nigerian delegation, comprising about 20 companies, to the International Market of Communications Programmes in Cannes, France.

Consul General of France in Lagos, Mr Laurent Favier, disclosed this at a recent press conference in Lagos.

He stated, “After supporting a stand for Nigerian Animation Studios at Animation Film International Market in Annecy for the past three years, the French Embassy in Nigeria will be providing Nigerian Industry professionals with an umbrella at MIPCOM.”

Favier said the stand, which was being coordinated with the NIFS platform, would be hosting more than 15 studios that would sell their movies, TV series, and TV shows to international broadcasters and platforms.

“This support to the Nigerian audiovisual industry was made possible thanks to specific funds. This year again, the programme called ‘Creation Africa’ enables us to support entrepreneurship in the cultural and creative industries. This fund has been entrusted to us for 18 months by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs,” the consul general disclosed.

MIPCOM Cannes is the global market for entertainment content across all platforms.

It is a hub for all entertainment content markets globally, with over 11,000 delegates, 3,500 buyers, and over 100 countries represented at more than 320 stands.

In four days, participants will engage in networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative efforts aimed at pushing Nigerian content to the global forefront.

Industry professionals and TV catalogue rights holders will come together to explore new opportunities and address the challenges facing the industry.

By accepting to join the Nigerian delegation to MIPCOM, participants reaffirmed their commitment to highlighting and selling African stories that resonate not only on the continent but around the world.
