FRSC Appoints New Zonal Commander For Oyo, Osun, Ondo States

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has named Corps Commander Alphonses Godwin as the latest interim Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO), responsible for overseeing Osun, Oyo, and Ondo states.

Naija News reports that this announcement was made by the Corps Zonal Public Enlightenment Officer, Adegboye Banke, and shared with reporters on Thursday in Osogbo.

The statement reads, “Godwin, until his appointment, was enlisted into the corps in 1996 with wealth of experience in the corps operational activities.

“He was also the former Sector Commander in Delta, Jigawa and Plateau States before his last position as the Corps Commander RMA at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.”

The statement further noted that the newly appointed ZCO holds a degree in International Studies from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is also a member of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (FISPON), among several other professional organizations.

The newly appointed ZCO, CC Alphonses Godwin, is joyfully married with a family and has been back to work since July 16.

Barely two months ago, the newly-appointed Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, approved the redeployment of some senior officers.

Naija News reports that a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide, explained that the redeployment is in line with the Corps Marshal’s policy thrust, which targets strategic repositioning of the FRSC for optimal performance and ease of doing business.

The redeployment affected three Assistant Corps Marshals, one Corps Commander, and one Deputy Corps Commander.

The senior officers affected are Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu, the erstwhile Public Education Officer who is now redeployed to head the Administration and Human Resources Department at the FRSC headquarters; Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) Chidi B Nkwonta, former Commandant, FRSC Command and Staff College UDI, Enugu State now to take over duty as the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Corps Marshal, Assistant Corps Marshal Hafeez Muhammed now redeployed as Zonal Commanding Officer Zone 7.

The Corps Marshal also approved the redeployment of Corps Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide from Command Administration and Strategy in the Operations Department at the National Headquarters and appointed the new Corps Public Education Officer, among others.
