Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has criticized former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili, over a shade at his principal.
Naija News reported that Odili had said Governor Sim Fubara prevented a man from turning the state into a private estate, which many claimed was directed at Wike.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the chief press secretary to Fubara, Nelson Chukwudi, quoted Odili speaking at an event on Friday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Odili, who governed the state from 1999 to 2007, commended Fubara for his fortitude and sterling leadership qualities despite the crisis in the state.
In response, Olayinka, in a post via X, described Odili’s comment against Wike as disappointing.
Wike’s aides condemned Odili’s loss of statesmanship, stressing that the former governor had reduced himself to a ridiculous level of partisanship.
He wrote, “Read the comments made by the former Governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, today, and I can’t but be disappointed that someone who should be acting like an elder statesman can reduce himself to such ridiculous level of partisanship.
“Well, he will get his deserved response from the FCT Minister in due course.”
