The fuji music scene witnessed a historic event on August 21, 2024, as the much-anticipated Fuji Festival was held at the Blueroof, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.

The festival marked a significant milestone in the industry, bringing together the genre’s biggest musicians who, for years, had been divided by rivalry and intense competition.

The festival offered a symbolic moment of reconciliation and collaboration, and was marked by many memorable moments, to the amazement of fuji lovers.

The atmosphere was electric as many of the guests, who were dressed in a uniform yellow and blue ankara, were thrilled by the different performances.

Artistes present at the festival include Adewale Ayuba, Sulaiman Atawewe, Saheed Osupa, Wasiu Alabi (Pasuma), Abass Akande (Obesere), Yinka Ayefele, Shina Akanni and Sule Malaika (KS1), among others.

Highlights of the event include the joint performance of Atawewe and Obesere. The latter, who wore a durag, doled out bundles of cash to Atawewe; an action that was greeted by cheers from the adulating crowd.

Also, for the first time in a while, fuji stars, such as Malaika, Obesere, Ayuba and Atawewe shared the same table, chatting and exchanging pleasantries.

In the same heartwarming turn of events, Pasuma and Osupa rekindled their friendship as they also sat at the same table.

Another notable moment was when Pasuma, Yinka Ayefele and Ayinla Killington exchanged pleasantries.

At some point, Osupa, Pasuma, Malaika, Obesere, Ayuba and Atawewe also shared the stage.

At the festival, the ban on the release of joint albums, was also lifted.

According to the organisers of the festival, the lift of the ban marks a new era of collaboration in the industry.

Attendees also paid homage to fuji music pioneer, the late Sikiru Ayinde, aka barrister, reflecting the respect and admiration he still enjoys in the industry.
