The last may not have been heard of the face-off between the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Ganduje, who is the immediate past governor of the state, accused his successor of sponsoring the violent protests in Kano to undermine the President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, yesterday in Abuja, the APC chairman claimed that he was privy to intelligence reports that the protest, which tragically turned bloody, was directly sponsored by the New Nigeria Peoples Party-led (NNPP) administration in the state.

Calling on the people of Kano and all well-meaning citizens to remain calm and law-abiding while the authorities conduct their investigations, Ganduje assured that the APC remains committed to promoting peace, justice, and good governance across the federation.

The response is coming against the backdrop of claim by Governor Yusuf that, “undesirable elements in the state sponsored hoodlums during the protests in Kano to destroy court documents meant to be used in prosecuting Ganduje over alleged corrupt practices while at the helm in Kano State.

Ganduje reminded the governor that the words and actions of leaders carry weight, and have dire consequences.

MEANWHILE, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor, Abdulrahman Mai-Kadama, has resigned his appointment and defected to the APC. The politician, who was an aide of the governor on entrepreneurship, announced his defection on Wednesday in Abuja, after a meeting with the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin.

Mai-Kadama held several positions before his switch, including leading the Kwankwasiyya movement in Plateau State.  He was also head of the G-6 faction in Kano State.

In a Facebook post, Jibrin said Mai-Kadama joined the APC to advance good governance and accelerate development.

“Another plus for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a top shot of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Kwankwasiyya movement, Abdulrahman Mai-Kadama Kwankwasiyya, joined the party,” the statement reads.
