Ahead of the Governorship Primary election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra State, National Chairman of the ruling Party, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has called on aspirants and stakeholders’ in the State not to use their wealth to destroy the Party in the State but, to rather build and put it on it’s rightful perspective.
Ganduje also vowed to present award to Anambra APC if they could be united and produce a consensus candidate.
Speaking while hosting a support group of the Party in the State, ‘Both 2 Both with Bola Tinubu,’ at the Party National Secretariat, Buhari House, Abuja on Tuesday, Ganduje assured that his leadership will ensure a free, fair and credible primary election in the State.
According to Ganduje, Anambra should assist in providing conducive atmosphere saying; “as a party, if we have good primary in the State, all our stakeholders are born again.”

He said: “All the people are highly educated and rich. We have told hem that, this time around, it will not be business as usual. Let us support the system. We know they are very rich, they have a lot of money, but they should not use the money to scatter the Party, in the State. They should use the money to rather, develop the State and build the APC.
“Infact, I will be highly grateful, if they can produce a consensus candidate, I will gladly, give them an award.
“You also, earlier mentioned option of Direct or Indirect mode of Primary election. As an institution, I assure you, we will sit down and the National Working Committee, NWC, in conjunction with the leadership of the party in the State, agree on whichever method, for the Primary.”
In his earlier speech, National Coordinator of the ‘Both 2 Both with Bola Tinubu,’ Iyke Madu, told the APC NWC Chairman, that if credible primary election is conducted, and it is clear to everybody that the winner emerged through a credible process, they will all work together and ensure victory for the Party.“
“We are here, with a request, to see that a credible, free, fair and transparent Primary election is conducted in Anambra State.
“This is to avoid pitfalls of 2021, where Primaries were supposed to have been conducted and results announced in the hotel rooms in which a candidate who got 300,000 votes in the Primaries could not even get up to 50,000 votes at the contest against other Parties.
“We know there are issues of insecurity in Anambra State, even as we speak, the State Government could not conduct its Local Government elections due to insecurity.
“We are thinking, if a State Government cannot conduct their own Local Government elections due to insecurity, it’s going to be difficult for a Party that does not control the State to conduct a Direct Primary election.
“So, we are here, only requesting that the Party, opt for the Indirect primaries. Our constitution provides for that institution, where we have delegates come into a particular place,” he added.
