.Another firm takes mobile wallet campaign to venue
A digital solutions provider, Globacom, has said that it would again be partnering with the organisers of this year’s Ojude-Oba festival holding in Ijebu-Ode tomorrow in continuation of a tradition it started 18 years ago.
Globacom’s representative, Kazeem Kaka, who gave the hint during a pre-event media briefing held at the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu Ode, restated the firm’s commitment to uplifting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
He said: “Our sponsorship of festivals is aimed at identifying with the cultures and traditions of the Nigerian people, as an indigenous brand. Our involvement in the celebration of Ojude-Oba festival is therefore geared towards promoting the unique tradition and custom of the Ijebu people.
“We are convinced that this partnership will further foster a symbiotic relationship with immense benefits for both Globacom and Ijebuland.”
In his speech, Chairman of Ojude Oba Planning Committee, Olu Okuboyejo, paid tribute to Globacom for its massive support for the celebration, which he noted, serves as a reminder of the historical antecedents of the Ijebu people.
Meanwhile, this year’s festival will witness the presence of MoneyMaster Payment Service Bank Limited (MMPSB), a leading payment service bank in Nigeria.
A statement from the bank stated that the use of mobile wallets by the many Nigerians can facilitate the shift towards a cashless economy by fostering more convenient saving habits and facilitating easy payment transactions.
“We rejoice with the people of Ijebuland at this time,” it said.
