Gombe governor swears in five Permanent Secretaries, warns against corruption

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, on Thursday, swore in five new Permanent Secretaries, stating a strict stance against corruption, indiscipline, incompetence, and wastefulness.

The appointees include: Prof. Muazu Shehu Usman – Gombe LGA, Mohammed Bello Abubakar – Akko LGA, Mohammed Yusuf Kulani – Balanga LGA, Ahmed Saidu Guli – Dukku LGA, Alhassan Ibrahim – Yamaltu Deba LGA

During the swearing-in ceremony, Yahaya urged the officials to embody the highest standards of integrity and excellence in their roles.

“Our administration maintains zero tolerance for corruption, indiscipline, incompetence, and wastefulness. Your service to the state must match the goodwill our administration has shown as we continue to strive for excellence in governance and service delivery,” the governor stated.

Yahaya reminded the Permanent Secretaries of their critical role in driving the implementation of government policies and ensuring the continuity of governance.

“As the backbone of the civil service, your new role demands nothing less than excellence,” he added.

The governor pointed out ongoing reforms under his administration aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the civil service.

These include: Establishing the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Clearing over ₦17 billion in gratuity arrears, Ensuring timely pension payments, Implementing the new minimum wage across the state.

Congratulating the appointees, Yahaya described their elevation as a recognition of their qualifications, dedication, and commitment to the state’s progress.

“Your appointment is a testament to your unwavering loyalty and commitment to the development of Gombe State.

“I urge you to justify the trust reposed in you by delivering exceptional service to our people,” Yahaya concluded.
