Gombe State has recorded a significant milestone in revenue generation, with the State’s Internal Revenue Service (GIRS) surpassing the N9.9 billion mark in the first half of 2024.

The total IGR for Q2 2024 stood at an impressive N6.25 billion, representing a substantial 123.62% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Notably, Q2 revenue exceeded that of Q1 by a significant margin of N1.889 billion, indicating a 42.90% growth. A breakdown of the figures reveals consistent growth across the board, with March and April recording increases of 31.66% and 91.08% respectively. May experienced a phenomenal surge of 147.46%, while June contributed significantly by 75.81% increase.

With this milestone achievement, Gombe State is on track to meet its 2024 IGR target of N22 billion.

The GIRS Executive Chairman, Hajiya Aisha Adamu, attributed the service’s success to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s support and the strategic implementation of innovative revenue collection strategies.

“By leveraging technology and building staff capacity, the GIRS has effectively blocked revenue leakages and optimized revenue generation” she asserted.

It is worthy to note that Under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership, Gombe State has witnessed a steady rise in IGR, from N6.8 billion in 2019 to N15 billion in 2023.

This upward trajectory, coupled with the influx of foreign direct investment, positions Gombe State for significant economic growth with speedy development.
