Gospel music not for fame seekers — Ada Ehi

Gospel singer, Ada Ehi, has emphasised that the gospel music industry is not for fame seekers.

Speaking in an interview with Sunday Scoop, she said, “I didn’t choose gospel music. I have a calling in my life to minister to people. Music is my gift and my platform for expression, gospel music is not a genre but rather music that carries the presence of God. My music is gospel music. It’s faith-based so I incorporate faith into my music.

“You might have seen a couple of people get distracted here and there. Gospel music is not for fame seekers. You are a messenger. Get familiar with the message, with the gospel, and with the Messenger.”

Reflecting on her journey, the artiste expressed gratitude and confidence in the future. “I have no regrets. I trust in God for how far I’ve come, and I know that He who began this good work is more than able to perfect it.

“My relationship with God is for my good. I am a Christian first and foremost before I am a messenger. The more I grow in my knowledge of the Lord, the better I can express Him to people. One can only tell people about somebody one already knows.”

Ehi also stated that parents were role models who could sanitise the environment and keep their children from sexual contents.

She said, “As parents, we have a huge role to play. We need to sanitise our environment—what we watch, and what we listen to. The kids are watching and listening with us. Nowadays, you see a child’s birthday party become like a rave, with alcohol, dirty dancing, and loudness. These children are watching. We forget that some contents and environments are not age-appropriate.”

The singer added that schools also contributed to the decay. According to her, some educational institutions ‘allow DJs to play inappropriate music at school events, leading to children dancing seductively’.
