Gov Alia Stops APC Meeting From Holding In Benue, Vows No Meeting Can Hold Without His Knowledge As State Party Leader

Governor Alia, who serves as the leader of the APC in Benue State, stated that no meeting can be held within the state without his approval and awareness.

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has called for the cancellation of a State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reportedly scheduled without his knowledge.

The meeting, which was allegedly organised by the former party chairman, Mr. Austin Agada, was set to take place on Thursday, The Nation reports.

Governor Alia, who serves as the leader of the APC in Benue State, stated that no meeting can be held within the state without his approval and awareness.

He denied any prior knowledge of the proposed SEC meeting and declared that any gathering of the party's executive committee must be conducted with his consent.

However, Governor Alia cancelled the meeting and warned that there would be consequences for anyone attempting to disrupt the peace of the state by organising unauthorised gatherings.

"As far as I know, I am still the APC leader in this state. No APC meeting can be called without my knowledge.

"Furthermore, as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I must be informed of any legitimate gatherings.

"Nigeria is not a lawless country, and Benue State is no exception.

"Those who believe they can undermine the state's authority should reconsider and maintain peace," the governor was quoted as saying.
