The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has declared the dissolution of the 17 Local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairmen, effective from September 6, 2024.

This development was confirmed in a statement signed and released on Friday by Gyang Bere, the State Director of Press and Public Affairs.

Naija News understands that the committees were established on June 9, 2023, with an initial duration of six months; however, their terms were extended multiple times until the recent announcement.

In the statement on Friday, Governor Mutfwang instructed the Directors of Personnel Management in the 17 local government areas to take charge of local government administration until elections are conducted on October 9, 2024, to fill the vacant positions.

The statement read, “Governor Mutfwang commended the Transition Committee Chairmen for their exemplary leadership and dedication to advancing developmental projects that have directly impacted their communities.

“He expressed pride in their accomplishments and urged them to continue offering valuable counsel to promote peace and unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Plateau State.”

Governor Mutfwang urged the former chairmen to work closely with their constituents to guarantee the party’s success in the upcoming local government elections.

He expressed gratitude to the residents of Plateau State for their steadfast support, emphasizing that the results of the PDP primaries for both chairmanship and councillorship positions demonstrate the strong bond between the people and the party.

The Governor reiterated his dedication to leading an inclusive, transparent, and accountable administration that prioritizes the needs of all citizens of Plateau.
